About US

Schumacher Elevator is a custom elevator company with international headquarters in located in the central United States. Their focus is on passenger and freight elevators for medium-rise and high rise buildings.
Established in 1936, the company designed and built their first lift for a local food processing company. The lift was built to accommodate their need to move boxes and bags to different floors in the factory. Word soon spread about the quality of their work, and the company was asked by other area businesses to design and build more elevators for similar industrial applications. Within a few years, the company was asked to build an elevator for a funeral home. They were also approached by several restaurants and hotels, and designed and built small lifts for transporting food and other small goods for multi-story buildings. For 25 years, the company continued to concentrate on heavy duty industrial lifts and small lifting platforms for commercial use. During that period, the company built a solid reputation throughout the central United States as a supplier of dependable, high-quality elevators and elevator components. They were also well-known for doing excellent maintenance and repair work.
In the early 1960's the company began serious expansion of their product line to include passenger elevators for many applications. They began manufacturing elevators for hospitals, libraries, business buildings, hotels, apartment buildings, and colleges and universities. In the early 1970's the company wanted to provide higher quality products to their customers, and so they began making their own platforms, cabs and power units. In the 1980's the company began manufacturing microprocessor control units to operate the elevators. In the 1990's, Schumacher Elevator introduced two new products, a small elevator for use in private homes, and a slightly larger elevator for use in public buildings where the elevator does not get used very often.
The company now makes a complete line of hydraulic elevators for use in mid-rise buildings as well as a complete line of traction elevators for high-rise buildings. The elevators for private homes and limited use applications use a unique combination of cables and hydraulics to accommodate the special needs and limited space of the customer.
After designing and building elevators in several other countries, Schumacher expanded their growing international business in 2002 by entering into a joint venture with the Runfa Group in China. They have design teams and complete manufacturing capabilities in the U.S.A and China, as well as experienced and highly technical repair and service teams in both countries. The company now had elevators installed in countries in North America, Asia and the Middle East.
